How Does Contouring and Reshaping Work?
Reshaping and contouring is the process of changing the shape of the crowns of your teeth. Irregular shapes can be unsightly and they can be harder to brush/floss. For instance, if one of your teeth covers another, reshaping can help make them look straighter and more aligned. Not only will this look better when you smile, but it will make brushing and flossing easier. Contouring and reshaping can help if your teeth are:
- Misaligned
- Different Lengths
- Odd Shapes
- Or If You Have Recessed Gums
What's Included in Reshaping/Contouring?
During an initial consultation, our dentists will take a quick look at your teeth. They will see which teeth might need contouring/reshaping and decide if this procedure is right for your teeth. During the consultation, a dentist will also assess your overall oral health. This may include dental x-rays and teeth cleaning. If your teeth are the right fit for the procedure, we will set up an appointment for reshaping and contouring. Often this procedure is performed in conjunction with dental bonding. Bonding materials are designed to mimic the color of your teeth. Contouring and bonding is a non-invasive procedure that doesn’t require any pain medication or numbing agents.

Real Clients, Real Stories
My 6 year old daughter has been attending Joy Dentistry for a year. She loves her hygienist Jen. She relates really well to her. She explains what she is doing to my daughter in language she will understand. Great place for children.
